Charter Night: Monocracy Lions Club Celebrates 75th Anniversary

Ed Brown receives award for his 69 years of service

Fellow Lions and friends on Sunday, November 8th 2015, celebrated a milestone event – the Monocacy Lion Club’s 75th Charter Night. The celebration was held at Dutch’s Daughter in Frederick. The festivities begin at 6:00 pm with social hour, followed by dinner and program. The cost was $35 per person. Former Monocacy Lions or widows of deceased Monocacy Lions, were invited.

One of the highlights of the evening was a special tribute to Lion Ed Brown for his many years of service to the Monocacy Lions and to Lions Club International. Lion Ed is the longest serving Monocacy Lion – 69 years. He is also one of the longest serving Lions in Lions Clubs International – 73 years. Lion Ed was spotlighted in article entitled “Still Roaring” in the October issue of Lions Magazine honoring Lions who has served 60 years or longer.
